kendrapariseault-jm-mfa2012Kendra Pariseault grew up in Rhode Island and attended Skidmore College where she majored in Gender Studies and Studio Art. Before pursuing her MFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at The Rhode Island School of Design, Kendra lived and worked in New York City in the fashion industry for such houses as Calvin Klein and David Yurman. Currently she is the co-founder and Creative Director of the fashion jewelry line Kendra Phillip which allows her to share her love of whimsical design with a mass market. Her previous studies and professional experiences continue to influence her studio practice shaping her unique perspective on wearable objects. Kendra’s work reflects her interest in fashion, femininity, and feminism. The use of nontraditional materials and their relationship with the body are important aspects of the work. Kendra often accompanies her pieces with photographs of her process and of the finished piece on the body. Photographic documentation is an integral aspect of Kendra’s work; she utilizes these images as her sketchbook and as a tool for editing and progression. Kendra’s work has most recently been on view in The RISD Jewelry and Metalsmithing Triennial, RISD Expose, the exhibition: Studio Lab at RISD’s Red Eye Gallery curated by contemporary Jillian Matthews, and OBJECT Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
